2007 McDonald's All America Game Rosters Announced
Feb 25, 2007, 03:47 pm
Rosters for the 2007 McDonald’s All America Game to be played March 28th in Louisville, KY were announced Saturday. While all of the big name players such as O.J. Mayo, Derrick Rose, and Kevin love made the game, there were two glaring omissions of top fifteen players in the country that surprised most insiders within the high school basketball community.

Both LSU signee Anthony Randolph and Texas A&M signee DeAndre Jordan were left on the outside looking in. Randolph (ranked #12 by Scout and #17 by Rivals) was left out of the game after averaging nearly 28 points per game this season for Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas, TX. The 6’10 SF has been dominant in Texas high school basketball individually, although his team has been pretty average so far this season. Randolph’s high school coach Pat Washington informed DraftExpress weeks ago that he was told Anthony was not selected for the game, but we found it a bit hard to believe that a player considered by many to be one of the highest “upside” players in this class would not be selected.

Christian Life Center Academy big man DeAndre Jordan’s absence is a bit easier to understand. It was brought to DraftExpress’ attention that the 6’11 center is actually in his fifth year high school, transferring to Life Center Academy due to the fact that his eligibility ran up at Episcopal HS in Texas. McDonald’s policy on accepting fifth year players is inconsistent, to say the least. Last year, Paul Harris was reportedly not selected due to the fact that he was a fifth year player. Both Gerald Green (2005) and J.R. Smith (2004), though, were chosen to participate in the game, despite being in the prep ranks for five years. Either way, it is a shame to see a player ranked as the #8 player in the class of 2007 by Rivals and #16 by Scout to be left out of this prestigious all-star game.

Stars such as O.J. Mayo, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love and Eric Gordon were shoeins for the game. The ACC and Big East again lead the pack in terms of All-Americans, with 5 a piece. The SEC will welcome just one McDonald's invite, after having none last season.

DraftExpress will be represented at both the practices and the game itself.
